The Tribal Nation Grant Fund reflects a vision of facilitating tribal self-governance and improving the quality of life of tribal people throughout the state, prioritizing projects and programs that promote effective self-governance, self-determined communities, and economic development.
The Capacity Building Grant is made available to eligible tribes to increase tribal capacity to pursue and secure sustainable community and economic development, which could include, but would not be limited to: administrative and grant-writing staff capacity; develop and implement long-range development or strategic plans; develop tribal laws, policies and procedures; enhance funding opportunities and relationships, and increase funding from federal, state, individual, corporate and foundation sources.
Capacity Building Grant funds may be used to fund third-party contracts, enhance existing tribal programs, or procure supplies, so long as those activities (1) explicitly and primarily benefit the Tribe, (2) increase tribal capacity to pursue and secure sustainable community and economic development, and (3) are not otherwise funded or provided by sources outside of the Tribal Nation Grant Fund.
